What is The Zone Technique?

Although the Zone Technique was first developed in the 1930s by the renowned Dr. Thurman Fleet, it has gained significant momentum in recent years. This renewed interest began when Dr. Peter Goldman introduced the method into his San Francisco practice and further refined the approach. After witnessing its impact firsthand and recognising its potential to transform lives, Dr. Goldman founded the Zone School of Healing, where he now teaches practitioners the principles of zone health and the fundamentals of this healing philosophy.

Zone Technique focuses on restoring balance to the six core Zones of the body, each representing one of the main bodily systems. If any of these are disrupted, either physically or emotionally, a person can experience illness, discomfort or pain. Following a comprehensive examination and assessment, a qualified Zone Technique practitioner will be able to determine which zones have been disturbed, rebalance them, and eliminate any pain or discomfort being experienced.

What Are The Six Bodily Zones?

The six bodily systems, or zones, used in Zone Technique are as follows:

System/ Zone Functions
1. Glandular System/ Zone Represents all of the glands in the body, including the thyroid, adrenals and reproductive organs. These are responsible for important bodily functions pertaining to memory, energy, appetite regulation, sleep and relaxation.
2. Eliminative System/ Zone Includes all of the organs responsible for waste elimination, for example the kidneys, bladder, skin and lungs. If this system is balanced, an individual’s respiratory function will ease, the immune function will be strengthened and waste elimination normalised.
3. Nervous System/ Zone Consists of the brain, spinal cord and all other nerves, responsible a variety of functions including sensation, innervation of muscles, relaxation and sleep. When imbalanced individuals can experience symptoms such as nerve pain, insomnia and stress.
4. Digestive System/ Zone This Zone goes further than your stomach and intestines – it also includes the mouth, oesophagus, liver, gallbladder and pancreas, which all play a part in breaking down food to provide the body with vital nutrients.
5. Muscular System/ Zone Focuses on the bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and anything else that contributes to the body being able to move freely and without pain.
6. Circulatory System/ Zone In charge of the heart, vessels, blood pressure and circulation. Imbalances in this Zone can lead to problems such as high blood pressure, fatigue and cold hands and feet.
